The hotel was amazing!! Everyone was super nice and the breakfast wasn't the best but it was way better than an average hotel breakfast. I loved the waffle special they have. I also adored the rooms!!! They were spacious and comfy enough for two parents and two sisters and me! La Quinta Inn & Suites Logan was probably the best hotel I've ever been too. And I've been too it's of hotels but wow I really will come back her. They made me feel so welcome even though I'm a tourist! I'd seriously recommend staying here to anybody!!!
The service was wonderful. Breakfast was amazing. The room was very tidied up. The only problem I had was that I ended up leaving my makeup bag. And it took me 5 DAYS to get it back. Why? I called in to be sure it was there and I was told "yes it's here" so I kindly ask To keep it at the front desk because I worked graveshift. I was told that it would be at the front desk. I get off work at 4am and I head to the inn. Ask for my bag. And it's locked a at in housekeeping. Now that is very inconvenient as I called. Asked to keep it at the front desk. And it's not there. What if I was traveling long distance and had little time. And 4am that day could have been the ONLY time I could have grabbed it as it is a hotel a place where people who travel stay. So I was very upset. I call again the next day because no one listened the first time and I specifically said "can you keep it at your front desk. 4am is the only time I really can grab it as I worked graves and I sleep during the day so I am unable to pick it up when the housekeeper is in. So I go in again and it's still not there. Finally I have a day off and I walk in around 1 to get my bag and is still not at the front desk so it took about 15-20 minutes to retrieve my bag that I should have been able to get back the next morning whether it was 4am or not. And as soon as I open it. Something was stolen. I didn't report it because it was just a dual makeup brush but I was and still am very disappointed. Because of that I'll never be staying here again because that was a MAJOR inconvenience. ESPECIALLY for a hotel.
The hotel was really clean and the pool was fun for the kids. The problem I had was what appeared to be a severe staffing problem. It seemed as though this hotel had overworked staff and everyone there seemed very put out when they were asked for anything; towels, blankets, questions about the city. It was frustrating as a patron. The other problem was we tried to check in an hour after the time of check in and they told us our room was not ready and we had to go find something to do for an unknown amount of time because they weren't sure when it would be ready. That was very frustrating because I have 3 small children and did not know much about Logan or what to do. Overall it was a frustrating experience. But it is a well kept hotel.
Edit: They did it again before 9, and there was a horde of housekeepers vacuuming in the hall between 8 and 9. So even without the knocking sleep was not an option.
Is check out at 8am? Then why was housekeeping rapping on my door at 8 to wake me up and mumble something unintelligible, before moving on down the hall to all the next rooms doing the same thing? I usually pay money at a hotel to get a good night's rest, and if I want to sleep in on a weekend that really shouldn't be a problem.
For the most part, it was a typical hotel stay. However, the reason it's a 3 instead of 5 star rating is because when we got there to check-in (30-45 min after 3pm check-in), they told us our rooms weren't ready (I had 1 of 4 rooms my group needed). Also, they couldn't give us a solid estimate of when they would be ready. That was frustrating because we had to find something to do for an hour or 2, to make sure they had time to get some rooms ready, but it was too early to go get dinner. The other thing was that both times we went swimming, they were out of pool towels (which is frustrating because you don't know to bring towels with until you're already to the pool). I feel that whether or not a hotel had a lot of people check out on the same day (which is what they said was the reason the rooms weren't ready), a hotel should know how many rooms they need to have ready by check-in time, and if needed, they should double up on staff to get the rooms ready in time. The location is right on main, so it's pretty central to Logan. However, because it's right where the road splits, if you want to go North on Main St. it's not the easiest - we ended up doing several u-turns during the weekend just to leave the hotel and go North. The room was decent enough, but our A/C unit stopped blowing cold air during the middle of the day (August), so our room got up to an uncomfortable 77°. By night it had cooked back down to 74°, but it did take all afternoon. My other experiences with La Quinta have all been much more positive, but unfortunately, this one fell short this time. And all it takes is one time to give you a bad taste for something.
