Other suggestions: 1) try to enhance lighting in the waiting area. It will relieve tensions for customers and help to create a better, more welcoming atmosphere. Given the large space of the bank, perhaps something can be done to accommodate the customers and make them feel more welcome, instead of waiting in line that goes outside of the door.
Also regarding courtesy suggestions: try to find a way to give quick reception of customers, and reduce the lines of customers waiting.
As someone who has only given 5-star ratings on google for all services I have received, this is actually the first review that is below 5 on google that I have ever given. --- I do think that these reviews could be used for a positive purpose. Hence I have revised my review in a more constructive way and hopefully someone will read it. The bank has great location, and a huge space. It just seems that with more enhanced management, it could avoid the pitfalls above and become successful, and then attracts more people to go to.
This place is OK for simple businesses, such as deposit and withdrawal. For any other purposes, it is recommended to go to the Providence one.
Other observations: when the computer system is wrong, a female customer waiting in line was told that she would not get cash. She was in tears, but the staff handled her with a visible degree of indifference, providing no suggestions. ---- To help remedy the situation, here is a suggestion, try to bring her a glass of water, express that you are sorry, and give her alternative chase branch banks where she may find help. It takes just a few minutes.
When addressing a customer, smile, and please put both hands down. Avoid giving mixed signals such as putting your hands on your waist. Even though when things are crazy, customers go to the bank to contribute to your business. It could be a pleasant business for both. Smile, it will make things easier and avoid unnecessary tensions.
My wife and I showed up at 2:35pm to open a new account with a promotion they're running. The teller asked asked the banker if he'd have time (This branch closes at 3pm) to open a new account and he gave a flat no. We were informed it takes typically 30 minutes to open a new account. Translation, the banker refused a new customer on the possibility that he would be there for an extra five minutes.
Always friendly and helpful.
Disclaimer: the following is a merely personal impression. For those who are reading it, please feel free to consider the review in a critical light. My initial review is 2 stars. But I do want to provide more positivity and useful suggestions, and hence I have revised it to 3 and rephrased my comments below, so that the suggestions will be more useful. Here is my experience.
I asked about cash award for opening a checking account and set up direct deposit, but was only told in the end that the coupon needs to be provided. Later I went to the bank, but they told me that there is a three-week limit before they can use the coupon. ---This is fine. However, to make sure there is no confusion for new customers, please say at the front that they need to bring back the card in three weeks, if they do not have the card when opening the account.
The first time I went there to open a checking account, I was shuffled to the next day at 10am. I arrived at 10am, and the specialist who signed me with the appointment did not show up. His female colleague received me but it was a slightly uneasy communication. He did not show up until 1 hour later, ignored me and did not apologize. To remedy the situation, please do try to accommodate customers, and keep records of your arranged appointments. If late, apologize.
This was an over the phone interaction; I called the Logan branch and asked about a couple fees that were hitting my account and they fixed the fees without any hassle! I called 3 other chase banks prior to this one, to get help with this problem and I repeatedly got transferred without getting a hold of anyone. This is the second time the Logan branch has helped me with a problem, while providing me hassle free over the phone service. Thank you, I will strongly recommend this branch in the future.
2) update the computer system at this bank. There were two occasions when I witnessed computer problems that caused either delay or bigger scale of disfunction. This appears to be quite urgent and needs to be fixed.
