Not sure if the services changed but when we went there a few years ago, we did all sorts of exercises but Mr. Hinds wasn't able to figure out how to help us with the different answers my spouse and I had. He told us we had to agree to disagree. It wasn't until several counselors later, someone who used the attachment based counseling by Sue Johnson (Hold me Tight), that we figured out how to be emotionally closer. There was major mother enmeshment going on and Summit counseling did not catch it, just said it was ok for the mother in law not to like the wife and for the son to be close to the mother, even though it hurt his relationship with his wife. It wasn't until a counselor started to untangle that mess and showed the verbal and emotional abuse that was going on, that changes started. Summit counseling should have suggested reading Lundy Bancrofts books and Kenneth Adams. That would have pinpointed the problem. Summits counseling unfortunately was a total waste of money.
